Despite her return to Nigeria in pomp and circumstance about one month ago, First Lady Patience Jonathan is still sick, SaharaReporters sources say.

Saharareporters learned that shortly after the public relations exercise that attended her return, she retired into a medically-induced bed rest that has her kept her away from the public, unable to attend to official duties.

Jonathan was speaking at a ceremony to mark the 55th birthday anniversary of the First Lady at the State House, Abuja on Thursday.

The wife of the President, Mrs. Patience Jonathan who returned to Nigeria today after six weeks, has denied being hospitalized in Germany for a terminal ailment.

Mrs. Jonathan arrived aboard a presidential aircraft at the presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Abuja, at 3:45pm.

On her arrival she dismissed reports that she was flown to Germany for the treatment of a terminal ailment. However,  Mrs. Jonathan did not disclose her whereabouts in the last 6-8 weeks.

A plane with President Goodluck Jonathan has reportedly left Nigeria’s capital, Abuja, several hours before the Nigerian leader was scheduled to depart to New York to attend this year’s United Nations General Assembly. SaharaReporters learnt that the secretive maneuver meant that the president was most likely headed for Germany to see his ailing wife.

“There has been a great measure of secrecy surrounding the president’s departure,” said a source close to the Presidency. “I believe that Mr. President will stop over in Germany to see the First Lady before arriving in New York.”

Mrs. Patience Jonathan is spending her fourth week in a hospital in Wiesbaden, Germany.

A security source with knowledge of the development told TheWill that the Presidency’s action followed reports of her medical sojourn to the hospital, believed to have been leaked by someone amongst the team of six aides dispatched to Germany ahead of her arrival.

The aides were withdrawn and replaced with a new team of six security aides from the SSS, our source said, adding that when the replacement team, made up of more experienced and trusted aides arrived Germany, they were stripped of other phones and directed to stay off the social media and the internet.

Authorities at the German hospital, Horst Schmidt Klinik, have banned visitors from seeing their VIP patient, the Nigerian First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan.

The action, action to reports, is aimed “to quicken the recovery of the First Lady,” according to the Lagos-based Vanguard newspaper. The paper reports that Horst Schmidt Klinik officials “yesterday, barred visitors and some top Nigerian officials, who went to see her from, doing so.”

Her visit to Dubai was explained as a vacation but our sources said it involved a medical procedure, while in Dubai, she reportedly had “food poisoning” alongside her medical doctor, soon after she returned to Abuja last Monday, the emergency broke and she had to be airlifted to Wiesbaden, Germany for food poisoning.
