Lake turns RED with… salt?
A LAKE runs red in images that make it look like a scene from a gore movie.
But the change in colour is thought to be caused by nothing scarier than high levels of salt. The natural phenomenon is believed to stem from the salt crystals surrounding the lake in Camargue, southern France. Photographer Sam Dobson, who captured the stunning images, said: “I’d read a lot of things about Camargue but I’d never heard anything about this.” The 51-year-old chanced upon the incredible scenes while driving through France. He added: “We were just on the way to the beach when we saw the striking lake.“It is absolutely stunning from far away but it’s even better when you get closer.”
